One favorite summertime tradition is forging ahead despite the current COVID climate: Cincinnati's annual Shakespeare in the Park theater series will be visiting a handful of area parks to bring the Bard's classics to the public for free.
They're also adding a few new twists this year, with a cool interpretation of a drive-in theater experience at the Cincinnati Museum Center, and a few livestream and radio play options, "for those who are not comfortable or able to come to an outdoor or drive-in performance," says Jeanna Vella, director of marketing for Cincy Shakes, in an email.
You can tune in to hear Shakespeare in the Park's rendition of A Midsummer Night's Dream at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30 on 91.7 or 88.5, online at wvxu.org, on their mobile app or on a smart speaker.
Cincinnati Shakespeare Company's Jeremy Dubin is adapting and directing this special, family-friendly radio production. As per the event description, A Midsummer Night's Dream "tells the tale of faeries and lovers, as well as Nick Bottom and The Mechanicals, as they hilariously attempt to rehearse and perform a play for the Duke’s wedding. In this whimsical forest, a happy ending is guaranteed for both sprites and mortals alike."
