Stage Door: Get Ready for Fringe

OK, so it's Memorial Day weekend, and theater-going might not be what you have in mind. How about this? If you're heading downtown for the feeding frenzy at Taste of Cincinnati (and what true Cincinnatian isn't?), you can take a quick side trip to Jackson Street in Over-the-Rhine to pick up some tickets or a pass for the eighth annual Cincinnati Fringe Festival. It's the perfect time to find your way to Know Theatre (1120 Jackson, right next to the Gateway Garage), which is Fringe headquarters. —-

My recommendation: Buy a "Voyeur" pass for $60, which gets you six entries for the price of five. And if you're really excited about seeing as much as possible, there's a "Full Frontal" all-access pass for $200. There are more than 30 shows, so if you plan to see most of them, this is a great deal — a big savings over $12 per admissions.

All the great action kicks off next week: A party for all involved on Tuesday night (at Know's Underground bar) and then 10 productions start performing on Wednesday — plus that many more on Thursday.

While you're at Know, pick up a copy of the Fringe program (it was also included in the May 20 issue of CityBeat) so you can figure out what's showing when and where. For a little guided direction, be sure to check out CityBeat's Cover Story preview here. All venues are in Over-the-Rhine, so this is also a perfect opportunity for you to check out restaurants and other developments in the exciting, historic neighborhood.
