The Cincinnati Recreation Commission (CRC) announced May 22 that it will reopen seven of its 24 pools on June 8. These include The Dempsey Aquatic Center at the Price Hill Recreation Center, Evanston Pool, McKie Center Pool, The Dunham Otto Armleder Memorial Regional Aquatic Center at Dunham Recreation Complex, Hirsch Pool, Oakley Pool and Pleasant Ridge Pool.
The CRC has also announced its protocol and guidelines to ensure the health and safety of guests and employees.
“Even though this summer doesn’t look or feel quite the same as other summers, we are pleased to be able to offer our citizens some relief from the heat and a place where families can have some fun together,” says CRC Director Daniel Betts.
Each pool will have adjusted hours beginning June 8 as follows:
- Dempsey Aquatic Center: noon-7 p.m. Monday-Friday; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday
- Evanston Pool: noon-7 p.m. Monday-Friday; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday
- McKie Center Pool: noon-7 p.m. Monday-Friday; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
- Dunham: noon-7 p.m. Monday-Friday; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
- Hirsch Pool: noon-7 p.m. Monday-Friday; 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday
- Oakley Pool: noon-7 p.m. Monday-Friday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
- Pleasant Ridge Pool: noon-7 p.m. Monday-Friday; 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
Each pool will also have a maximum capacity and there will be specific blocks of time when the pool will be available for public swimming. The pool will be cleaned and sanitized after each time block.
Guests are also asked to make reservations through the CRC facility where the pool is located in order to cut down on congestion and allow social distancing. In order to allow for the most people to have access to the pool, guests will be limited on how many blocks of time they can reserve. These reservations can be made seven days in advance, starting today, June 3.
“The goal of these policies is to ensure appropriate social distancing, accommodate an enhanced cleaning and sanitation schedule and maximize the availability of these important community resources to as many residents of Cincinnati as possible,” the CRC wrote in a press release.
