The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners have officially declared July 24, 2020 "Wear Red Day" in Hamilton County to support the Cincinnati Reds during Opening Day.
According to the proclamation, "Whereas, for more than 100 years, the residents of Hamilton County have treated Opening Day as a special and sacred holiday; and whereas, this Opening Day is the first and hopefully last Virtual Opening Day ever...and whereas, in recognition that even though we are not physically together in the ballpark, we can all support and cheer on the Reds by wearing red clothes, ball caps and even red masks. Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Board of County Commissioners of Hamilton County, Ohio encourage everyone in Hamilton County to participate in Wear Red Day."

The original Reds Opening Day and 101st Reds Findlay Market Opening Day Parade were slated to take place Thursday, March 26, but were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Reds will now be hosting their first game of a 60-game 2020 season at Great American Ball Park against the Detroit Tigers at 6:10 p.m. July 24. No fans are allowed in the stands.
"It just wouldn't be summer in Cincinnati without Reds baseball," said Hamilton County Commissioner Denise Driehaus in the press release regarding the start of the MLB season. "While we may not be able to gather at the ballpark, we can still come together as a community and cheer on the Reds."
