Nostalgia for ’90s music is apparently at an all-time high. Riverbend Music Center has announced it already has its first sold-out show of the 2019 concert season. Tickets for Hootie & the Blowfish’s July 20 Riverbend show (with openers Barenaked Ladies) are completely gone as of this morning (Dec. 17).
Hootie & the Blowfish have not released a new studio album since 2005’s Looking for Lucky. Darius "Don't Call Me Hootie" Rucker has been nurturing a successful Country music solo career, but it’s not as if he has a big enough profile to sell out a concert seven months in advance on his own. People just really miss Hootie, it seems.
The Blowfish’s “Group Therapy Tour” is in honor of the 25th anniversary of the band’s breakthrough hit album Cracked Rear View. The group also signed a record deal with UMG Nashville and is expected to release an album of new material in conjunction next year's summer tour.
