AYE Music & Art Festival Takes Over Northside for 13th Annual Event this Weekend

Besides presenting an eclectic array of artists, the multi-venue event will raise money and awareness for the Women Helping Women organization.

The AYE Music & Art Festival — which was founded in 2006 by adventurous local musician Nick Mitchell (Grasshopper Juice Records/ The Terrors/Chick Pimp/Juan Cosby) — returns to various venues throughout Northside this weekend.

Featuring local and touring musical acts (often with accompanying visuals) representing everything from Hip Hop and Electronic music to AltPop and Indie Rock (plus many genres between and beyond), AYE (“Adjust Your Eyes”) kicks off Friday night and continues through late Saturday, with performances at popular venues like The Comet, Urban Artifact, Northside Tavern, Chameleon, Junker’s and Northside Yacht Club. Local artists appearing at the AYE fest this year include Electric Citizen, K. Savage, WeirDose & Juan Cosby, Tyler Randall of the duo Dawg Yawp, Common Center, Beloved Youth, The Harlequins, Joesph, Fycus, Lazy Ass Destroyer, Freedom Nicole Moore & the Electric Moon and Knotts.

AYE is perfect for “show hopping” to catch a perfect mix of styles and sounds. Many of the events are free, but a few have small cover charges (grab a two-day pass for $8 for the Chameleon Electronica showcases here).AYE has raised thousands of dollars for locally-relevant charities, causes and organizations since its inception. This year, donations and other proceeds go to Women Helping Women.
