It’s rare for Cincinnatians to run out of reasons to gather and drink beer on the weekend, but Saint Patrick’s Day brings a distinct level of “enthusiasm” to the activity. It would probably be easier to make a guide of places not offering some variation of green drink specials and Irish music to celebrate the boozy holiday, but we made a list anyway for you to map out your Saint Paddy’s Day game plan.
Saint Patrick’s Day at Molly Malone’s — Molly Malone's takes Saint Patrick's Day seriously, starting off the festivities with kegs and eggs at 7 a.m. The first 100 people will get a souvenir T-shirt. All three floors of the pub will be alive with themed events and there will be a giant tent out front, full of Irish music and bands. Saint Patrick's Day Weekend at Fountain Square — If one day isn't enough for you to celebrate the luck of the Irish, Fountain Square is hosting a weekend-long bash, starting at noon on Saturday, March 14 and running through Sunday. Get your face painted and sip green beer — or Guinness — all while listening to Celtic Rock. (Eight bands will take the stage over the two-day event.) Saint Patrick's Day Parade — Cincinnati's annual Saint Patrick’s Day Parade will return for its 54th year on March 14. Organizations from both sides of the river will showcase their floats as former Bengals quarterback Kenny Anderson acts as the parade's honorary grand marshal. Beginning on Mehring Way, the parade will officially embark at noon, snaking through John Nuxhall Way before ending at the intersection of Freedom Way and Rosa Parks Street. The celebration is rain or shine, and you might want to bring a green umbrella; according to weather.com, there's a 40 percent chance of rain. Noon, Saturday, March 14. Free. Saint Patrick's Day Parade Watch Party at Moerlein Lager House — If you’re looking to party on St. Paddy’s Day but don’t want to miss the parade, you can head to the Moerlein Lager House on Saturday, March 14 for exclusive celebrations and an unbeatable view of the official Cincinnati Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. Feast on authentic Irish dishes and swig some themed drinks including Irish beer and a Tullamore D.E.W. Irish whiskey flight. Hosted by the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative Young Professionals, the event will stop at five different bars — Queen City Radio, Cobblestone, Revel OTR Wine Bar, Taglio Bar & Pizzeria and Rosedale — along 12th Street in OTR.
