The Hall is my favorite charity haunt, combining old-school DIY haunted house design with an awesome volunteer cast. The actors have a lot of heart and inspire plenty of screams. Unique features include an extra-long backwards-spinning vortex tunnel and a turntable floor that almost knocks you off your feet. The journey offers a zombie chase, a haunted werewolf forest and a trip through Lucifer’s throne room. There’s also a funny undead version of Cheers.
The Haunted Hall stands out as a throwback to the haunts of yesteryear, before the days of haunted house conventions where a company can buy a haunt-in-a-box. The best part of the Hall is groping your way through the black-out tent maze, which is long and disorienting to navigate. You have to find your way by listening to the creeped out laughs of those in front of you and using your imagination. It’s a terrific lo-fi romp.
THE WAIT
: Lines last 10-30 minutes, and the tour can take up to 45 minutes due to the lights-off maze.
