Trouble with Gay Marriage
President Bush says he's troubled by gay marriages in San Francisco and has called for an amendment to the Constitution that would ban them. The International Socialist Organization at the UC says it's troubled by President Bush's proposal.
The group hosts a public discussion on the topic at 7 p.m. Thursday in room 368 of McMicken Hall.
Rally for Public Workers
The American Federation of Government Employees sponsors a rally for government workers at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Fountain Square. Participants are encouraged to bring signs and banners to display while speakers draw the connection between good government and defending the rights of public workers.
Designing Cincinnati
Michaele Pride-Wells, director of the University of Cincinnati's School of Architecture and Interior Design, is the keynote speaker for the Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati Luncheon at noon Thursday at the Emory Center on Central Parkway. She will talk about how UC and the city of Cincinnati can work together to make the city better. The luncheon costs $15 for AFC members and their guests and $20 for non-members. Fight AIDS With Prayer and Action
The Black Church Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS 2004 spurs several events March 7-13. Red Ribbon Sunday is Sunday. A clergy community dinner at 6 p.m. March 11 at Jordan's Crossing features entertainment for those infected with HIV or AIDS. A "Healing through the Arts" youth extravaganza is from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. March 13 at St. Joseph Church.
