The Odd Couple

Playwright Neil Simon must be a great party guest, quick with quips and one-liners. His later plays like Lost in Yonkers and Brighton Beach Memoirs are sweet and nostalgic, but he made his name with laugh-inducing comedies, especially The Odd Couple, a match-up of two polar-opposite divorcees sharing an apartment.

Neat and tidy Felix is an uptight mess, while sloppy and casual Oscar is a slob of a sports writer. That sets the scene for many hilarious situations — in fact, this 1965 hit play was so classic that it became a TV sitcom from 1970 to 1975. The Odd Couple is a fine vehicle for two comic actors, so with local performers Joshua Steele and Mike Hall onstage at the Showboat Majestic, you can be sure there will be plenty of laughs.

Through June 30. $19-$20. Showboat Majestic, 435 E. Mehring Way, Downtown, 513-241-6550, cincinnatilandmarkproductions.com
