Back from Syria
The highest-ranking U.S. official to visit Syria in three years speaks at two public events in Greater Cincinnati this week. Assistant Secretary Ellen Sauerbrey of the U.S. State Department Bureau of Population, Migration and Refugees is just returning from a trip to Jordan, Egypt and Syria to assess the Iraqi refugee situation. She speaks at 7 p.m. March 28 at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and at 1:45 p.m. March 29 in the Otto Budig Theatre at Northern Kentucky University. Master Plan for Washington Park

Death Row Drama
In the tradition of the play The Exonerated comes Lucasville: The Untold Story of a Prison Uprising.
However, unlike the former death row prisoners in The Exonerated, the subjects of this play are still sentenced to be executed. Lucasville, written with the cooperation of five men who were sentenced to death for their alleged roles in the 1993 uprising at the maximum-security prison in Lucasville, Ohio, at 2 p.m. April 14 at First Unitarian Church in Avondale.
Creative Resistance
The 2007 SOS Art Show, which highlights a variety of artistic forms on themes of peace and justice, is accepting applications from artists. The show, in its fifth year, is May 25-June 3 at the Art Academy of Cincinnati. The deadline for receipt of application is May 4, 2007. The Mayor Will See You Now
Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory meets twice a month with anyone who has an issue or problem to discuss with him. "Mayors Night In" is from 5-7 p.m. in the mayor's office at City Hall. Every citizen who attends has a five-minute individual meeting to talk about anything they wish. Meetings are assigned in the order that individuals sign in, with sign-ins beginning at 4:30 pm. The next sessions are April 10 and 24, May 8 and 22 and June 5 and 19.
Documentary Series Seeks 'One World'
The Seven Hills School, in conjunction with Cincinnati Earth Institute, presents its Spring 2007 community film series, "One World: Building A Sustainable Future," focusing on global awareness and environmental sustainability. Each film provides an opportunity for members of the school and Greater Cincinnati communities to discuss global challenges and some of the ways human ingenuity can work with the natural world to meet them. The films will be shown monthly, January through May, at no charge in Founders Hall on the Hillsdale Campus, 5400 Red Bank Road. The films begin at 7 p.m. For more information, call 271-9027.
