Teranga
Flavor: Teranga doesn’t tone down its offering of traditional Senegalese and West African dishes for the Cincinnati palate. Order the grilled fish and you’ll see what we mean: Out comes an entire tilapia (head, tail, skin, bones and all) surrounded by a spicy mustard sauce thick with onions and seasoned with hot and black pepper.
Flair: Located in a strip mall, there’s not a whole lot of ambiance. The fluorescent lighting is functional and a few random bits of art provide a (basic) flavor of Africa. The clientele tends toward French-speaking West Africans who seem genuinely happy to have adventurous Cincinnatians dining in their midst.
8438 Vine St., Hartwell, 513-821-1300. Open 7 days. $6-$10.
