Jessica Null Vealitzek's first novel, The Rooms Are Filled, centers on a pair of people searching for their place in the world: a 9-year-old boy from rural Minnesota transplanted to suburban Chicago, where he crosses paths with a school teacher dealing with the realities of her closeted sexuality. The two form a unique bond, one that allows each to move past the prejudices of those around them. Vealitzek, who hails from and still lives in Chicago, discusses The Rooms Are Filled Saturday at Joseph-Beth Booksellers.
