A common refrain of many visitors to Cincinnati over the years is that the Clifton Gaslight District, centered around Ludlow Avenue, is about the only neighborhood in the Queen City that feels like it could belong in a much larger metropolis like New York or Chicago. After all, it contains everything you need for a viable neighborhood — lots of pedestrians, a grocery store, funky shops, restaurants and a movie theater. There’s even a corner fire station and a gay bar. Part of the reason for its success is active neighborhood groups. Those same groups will stage “The Holidays of Ludlow Avenue” from 6-9 p.m. The event features free horse-drawn carriage rides, strolling Christmas carolers, prize giveaways and refreshments, a craft workshop, performances by the Fairview Clifton German Language School Choir and a Santa Claus to entertain children and grown-ups who’ve had too much holiday cheer. Free parking is available after 5 p.m. in the Merchant’s Lot behind the IGA store. For more information, click here.
