The story of star-crossed lovers from opposite sides of the tracks gets a new glossy take in director/co-writer (with Joshua Safran) Shana Feste’s remake of Franco Zeffirelli’s Endless Love — a movie that along with Blue Lagoon came to define this teenage boy’s unrealistic coming-of-age fantasies during the 1980s. Gabriella Wilde steps up onto the pedestal erected for Brooke Shields upon the release of the original, but Wilde gets support from Bruce Greenwood, Robert Patrick, Joely Richardson and her equally smoldering co-star Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike), who knows a little something about generating a little sexy magic. Opens wide Feb. 14. (PG-13) Not screened in time for review
