Native Cincinnatian Brian Joiner is well known and loved for his rich, diverse practice as a mixed-media artist. On Friday from 5-10 p.m., the Mary Barr Rhodes Studio hosts A Celebration of the Life and Art of Brian Joiner, a benefit being held due to Joiner’s current battle with stage 4 liver cancer. Several friends and curators have organized an evening that celebrates a dense survey of his works, with full proceeds from their sales going directly to Joiner.

More than 250 artworks will be on display, spanning his series of portraits, landscapes, floral still life, pure abstraction and his best-known works of social commentary featuring the lively "Running Women" and fish motifs. Artworks range in price from $80 to $12,000, and options for donations — both large and small — are available for non-collecting individuals.

The evening event coincides with openings at Carl Solway Gallery and Aisle, both housed in the same West End complex. The music of Eugene Goss and Triage will accompany the exhibition, and Coffee Emporium will offer refreshments in the 1st floor lobby.
