Lit: Shawn Abnoxious

Local ’Zine legend (and CityBeat contributor) Shawn Abnoxious is to words what Butthole Surfers are to music. Experiencing them can be both rousing and confusing, but their eccentric approaches are satisfying, stimulating exercises in boundary-crashing.

Local ’Zine legend (and CityBeat contributor) Shawn Abnoxious is to words what Butthole Surfers are to music. Experiencing them can be both rousing and confusing, but their eccentric approaches are satisfying, stimulating exercises in boundary-crashing. You might love it, you might hate it, but, goddamn, you’ll remember it. Abnoxious celebrates the release of his new chapbook of poems Can I Borrow the Company Glider? which he says chronicles “the never ending dirge of everyday life in these modern times. Glider speaks of fragility, emptiness and loneliness.” So don’t expect any Christmas carols Saturday at The Comet, as Abnoxious reads from his collection and is joined by local bands Swear Jar and Dark Maven.
