The Brush Factory, Cincinnati’s retail and production outlet that pays homage to the arts & crafts movement with unique hand-crafted apparel and home goods, is celebrating its new Oakley storefront with an ice cream social — and a twist. This old-fashioned ice cream archetype gets a modern update by replacing the traditional dairy-based treat with vegan confections from Phro*ZEN, a vegan ice cream company run by local sisters Meg and Ellen Swallow. Started with the belief that “everyone deserves happiness, and that happiness can be found in the simplest (and sweetest) things,” they’ve created a line of tasty vegan desserts (no animal products whatsoever) with flavors like chocolate peanut butter and raspberry chocolate chip. Outside of the Brush Factory’s social, Phro*ZEN is available at Park Vine. And for those of you with more dietary restrictions, the dynamic duo will soon be tackling a line of allergy-free treats. Clothes, ice cream, cocktails. Sounds good to me. 7-9 p.m. Friday at 3229 Madison Road, Oakley.
