Events: Bike to Work Day

If the looming $5 price tag on a gallon of regular hasn’t already convinced you to ditch your rusty, rolling cage and hop on a people-powered-vehicle, Bike to Work Day is another terrific reason to commute by bicycle. It’s like an all-day party on wheels

If the looming $5 price tag on a gallon of regular hasn’t already convinced you to ditch your rusty, rolling cage and hop on a people-powered-vehicle, Bike to Work Day is another terrific reason to commute by bicycle. It’s like an all-day party on wheels kicking off at 7 a.m. with swag, coffee and mechanical advice at cyclist commuter stations at Sitwell's (324 Ludlow Ave., Clifton, 513-281-7487) and Corner BLOC Coffee Shop (3101 Price Ave., Price Hill, 513-202-3113). Make your way Downtown to the Bike to Work Day Celebration, 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Fountain Square, for the two-wheel revelry. Included are snacks and drinks for riders, info on local bike organizations and group rides and the 2011 Tricycle Relay Olympics. When you’re headed home, roll into the Cyclist Happy Hour, which runs 4-5:30 p.m. at Fries Cafe (3247 Jefferson Ave., Clifton, 513-281-9002) and nab discounted drinks and a free slice of pizza from Adriatico’s. And if you’re not yet worn out and you’ve had enough of the good old boys network, check in to Mobo’s Women’s Night 6-9 p.m. It’s an event at MoBo Bicycle Co-operative (1415 Knowlton St., Northside) for women and those who identify as women to turn some bolts, even if it’s their first time using a wrench.
