In August, after nearly two years at its Sycamore Street location, Museum Gallery-Gallery Museum, the occasionally outlandish fixture of the Over-the-Rhine gallery scene, closed its doors for the final time. It might be that all good things must come to an end, but it’s also been said that good things come to those who wait, and on Saturday a re-imagined Museum Gallery-Gallery Museum opens the doors to a newly refurbished Central Avenue location for the first time. Joining the ranks of Brighton mainstays Semantics and Synthetica-m, Museum Gallery-Gallery Museum probes the furthest reaches of inner-space to bring us Phrenological Makeover, a full-scale exhibition of the ins and outs of the gallery’s grey matter. Based upon the Victorian pseudoscience of phrenology, the show will feature a variety of works that each map a portion of the gallery’s “brain.” Artist devilmoon investigates the area of veneration by resurrecting the departed soul of Amy Winehouse in a riff on an Ingres portrait, while Frank Malone surveys sublimity by creating an office space. Finally, Jennifer Jolly presents an opening night spectacle with a live musical performance. Think deep thoughts and then join the celebration, 7-11 p.m. Saturday, as Museum Gallery-Gallery Museum charts a new course in a new location.
