We’ve looked back on some of our favorite moments on TV. Now, let’s look forward to new and returning shows for early 2015.
Portlandia (Season Premiere, 10 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8, IFC) – Season Five brings a Toni and Candace friendship flashback, Lance and Nina in couples counseling, Paul Reubens and raw milk.
Girls (Season Premiere, 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, HBO) – Hannah leaves Brooklyn to attend the Iowa Writers’ Workshop while her cohorts tackle music careers (Marnie), job interviews (Shoshanna) and sobriety (Jessa) in the city.
Togetherness (Series Premiere, 9:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, HBO) – Brothers Mark and Jay Duplass make their TV writing debut in this relationship comedy that appears to be a fitting follow up for Girls.
Parks and Recreation (Season Premiere, 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, NBC) – Back-to-back weekly episodes lead to a one-hour finale in this shortened seventh final season. Taking place in 2017, Parks finds Leslie and Ben with three children, Andy with his own Johnny Karate TV show and Jerry with a new name — Terry.
Kroll Show (Season Premiere, 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, Comedy Central) – Say goodbye to C-Czar, Bryan LaCroix, Liz and the Rich Dicks in the final season of this hilarious sketch comedy.
Workaholics (Season Premiere, 10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, Comedy Central) – Adam, Blake and Ders continue to stay fresh.
Broad City (Season Premiere, 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, Comedy Central) – Abbi and Ilana navigate bacne, Missed Connections and Bed Bath & Beyond.
Better Call Saul (Series Premiere, 10 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, AMC) – This comical Breaking Bad spinoff looks back at shady lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) six years before Walter White first stepped foot in his office. Die-hard Breaking Bad fans will be happy to revisit some of the source show’s characters, like Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks).
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (Season Premiere, 10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, FXX) – The gang is back! Season 10 features a Family Feud-esque game show, “Freight Train” high school gang leader Psycho Pete and more Charlie Work.
Man Seeking Woman (Series Premiere, 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, FXX) – Jay Baruchel stars in this new comedy about a hopeless romantic flung into the dating pool when his longtime girlfriend dumps him.
Justified (Season Premiere, 10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, FX) – This sixth and final season is poised to follow the final showdown between Raylan and Boyd. Expect to see the marshal head south — way south — to Mexico.
House of Cards (Season Premiere, Friday, Feb. 27, Netflix) – Frank Underwood is president. Help us all.
WEDNESDAY DEC. 31
Jennifer Lopez: Dance Again (Premiere, 9 p.m., HBO) – JLo embarks on her first world tour, but it doesn’t include Ja Rule so, really, what’s the point?
Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2015 (11:30 p.m., ABC) – Festivities and performances in New York and Los Angeles from 8-11 p.m., followed by the countdown to the Times Square ball drop after the news.
THURSDAY JAN. 1
Little Women: LA (Season Premiere, 9 p.m., Lifetime) – Who needs New Year’s resolutions when you can have New Year’s guilty pleasures?
FRIDAY JAN. 2
The Soup (10 p.m., E!) – Joel McHale counts down his favorite TV clips from 2014.
SUNDAY JAN. 4
Brooklyn Nine-Nine (8:30 p.m., Fox) – The detectives plan a boss-free weekend at Charles’ beach house only to find that Jake has invited Captain Holt.
TUESDAY JAN. 6
New Girl (9 p.m., Fox) – Winston finally graduates from the police academy, but Coach and Nick are worried about how he’ll be able to work with his new training officer. Elsewhere, Jess asks Schmidt to talk to a councilwoman about some disruptive nighttime construction outside the loft.
The Mindy Project (9:30 p.m., Fox) – Mindy embarks on her fellowship at Stanford and goes all Legally Blonde on her new classmates. Hopefully Morgan has lent out one of his pups so she can have very own Bruiser Woods. Later, Mindy runs into the dork that took her V-card (Lee Pace), who’s actually a hot tech millionaire now.
