Three years after being told by the UC administration, “You ain’t gotta go home, but you can’t stay here,” Bob Huggins will visit the Shoemaker Center with his West Virginia Mountaineers Thursday for a basketball contest with postseason implications for both teams. UC will honor Huggs before the game in a ceremony that’s sure to be awkward, with his new team sitting by his side and his former assistant coaching his former team. Eventually a basketball game will be played, one that UC desperately needs to win as it currently sits on the wrong side of the NCAA bubble. West Virginia has nearly secured its tournament bid but would like this win to stay near the league’s top teams. And, oh yeah, Huggins probably wouldn’t mind whooping UC just weeks after Nancy Z. agreed to leave the university and a year after UC smashed WVU in Morgantown. Despite all the personal drama, the game will match two similar teams that desperately want to win. So let’s have a contest and see who does! 7 p.m. $15-$29.
