If you haven’t made it down for the free MidPoint Indie Summer shows on Fountain Square (or any other of the free series offered on the Square all summer) this year, you really missed out. Great, large crowds and lineups that mixed top-notch national acts with local/regional faves made it a summer to remember. You have one last chance to catch an Indie Summer show this year and it’s a doozy.
Joining Louisville, Ky.’s great Indie/ElectroPop band The Pass, plus excellent locals The Yugos and newer crew Joey Cook and the Keepers of the Secret (one of the Pomegranates member’s new projects), are acclaimed eclectic Indie Pop rockers Islands. The show is also the launch of Islands’ current tour, following frontman Nick Thorburn’s dates with a reunited The Unicorns (his much-loved previous band, which got back together to tour with Arcade Fire). The band is picking up touring behind its most recent album (Islands’ fifth), 2013’s Ski Mask.
7 p.m. Friday. Free. Fountain Square, Fifth and Vine streets, Downtown, myfountainsquare.com.
