Color blindness affects approximately one in 12 men and one in 200 women, and there are three known types: red--green color blindness, blue--yellow color blindness and complete color blindness. Red-green color blindness results from a genetic condition in which the light-sensing function of the red and green cones in the eye overlap more than usual.
