The debate about the state of spiritual affairs continues in the latest release from Harold Cronk, the helmer behind God Is Not Dead! and God’s Not Dead. This time, a high school teacher (Melissa Joan Hart) unwittingly answers a question about Jesus and faces not only the possibility of losing her job; she also just might become the impetus that results in God being expelled from public life. As a film critic, I find myself wondering if God’s Not Dead 2 can function as a film rather than a heavy-handed bit of polemic posturing in the latest round of the culture war. (Opens Friday at Kenwood Theatre) (PG) Not screened in time for review
