The weekend comes around but once a week. The glorious Saturday sunrise reminds some of us that we have the day to ourselves and to our own vices. For those who work on Saturdays ... tough break, kid. The good news is Whiskey Rock won’t go down until that glorious sun does, and speaking of vices, there will be booze: $10 gets participants samples of different brands of whiskey including Jameson, Redbreast and Buffalo Trace. Whiskey, a group of people, a bar — the only thing missing is music. But it can’t be just any music; it has to set the right tone, something electric, fiery and cool at the same time with jolts of screeching guitar solos. It has to burn going down and warm one up once inside. That’s exactly what the hosts of Whiskey Rock assembled. Local bands The Dukes, Sacred Spirits, The Prohibitionists and Oso Bear will all play and meld their different styles of Rock. Think Indie meets Grunge. Thirsty yet? Whiskey Rock will be held at the Northside Tavern. Tastings take place every half-hour from 8-10 p.m. The free Rock show follows from 10 p.m.-close.
