Matisyahu

Dec. 3 • Bogart's

Offering up one of the most unique performances you might ever hear is Matisyahu, an American Hasidic Jewish Reggae musician. His words roll fast off the tongue with one rhyme masterfully wrapped in another and gilded with Hebrew and Yiddish twang. He plays cultures like a slide guitar, blending and bending influences such as Phish, Sublime, traditional Jewish Klezmer, Acid Rock and more.

At first Matisyahu looks like a novelty act, but he’s sincere in his music, rhyme and religion and delivers masterful performances that build bridges between people and communicate things that can’t be said. Check out his performance of “King Without a Crown” on YouTube for a taste.
