This minor Brat Pack classic (based on David Mamet’s play Sexual Perversity in Chicago) from the 1980s gets a cultural makeover and an intriguing upgrade that speaks to contemporary sensibilities. The focus of the original was the rakish charm of Rob Lowe opposite the sultry throaty tones of Demi Moore, while this time out, the star of the show is the ubiquitous funnyman Kevin Hart, who comes close to completely overshadowing his three co-stars — Michael Ealy, Regina Hall and Joy Bryant. Love in this day and age is apparently all about the guy who makes us laugh. Hot Tub Time Machine director Steve Pink steers this foray back to the future of romantic comedies. Opens wide Feb. 14.
