It’s the second weekend for Cincinnati Young People’s Theatre’s all-student production of Footloose, the hit 1998 musical (based on a hit 1984 film that starred Kevin Bacon). What a perfect show for high-school kids! Ren and his mom move from Chicago to a farm community where a local preacher is trying to suppress teen energy (and all it entails) by banning dancing and Rock & Roll music. But the preacher’s rebellious daughter falls for Ren, and — well you can imagine that all sorts of dancing breaks loose to songs you’ll know whether you’ve seen the movie or not, including the title tune (a hit for Kenny Loggins), “Almost Paradise,” and “Let’s Hear It for the Boy.” Hey, the kids are all right.
