As a filmmaker, Sarah Polley has proven to be a prescient storyteller. Known for her performances in films like Go and No Such Thing and more recently for directing (Away from Her and Take This Waltz), with Stories We Tell, Polley turns her attention to her own family, digging into the myths and memories of her personal history, which leads to the discovery of uncomfortable truths hidden for years. It is a surprising and honest documentary that starts off on one path, but finds its true self and subject while refusing to back away or hold anything in reserve. Now open at Esquire Theatre.
