The Council

Art Academy: June 2, 4, 6, 8 and 12

At a time when the national political scene has pundits turning blue and budgets running red, the Performance Gallery veterans have wittily and willfully transformed themselves into the rogues gallery that makes up a city council.

Playwright Brad Cupples and director Darryl Harris put local leaders under the microscope (by way of the funhouse mirror) to show governance run amok. As Cupples says, “No matter how hip, trendy or wise it makes you seem, saying ‘Who cares?’ doesn’t generally result in a positive change.” Whatever the issue, this council might very well deserve your vote.
