Fresh off of its trip to Texas for the South By Southwest festival, Cincinnati duo Acarya returns to local stages this weekend to celebrate the release Is Fio Glacies, the second in a series of EP releases the twosome is calling “The Elemental Collection.” Each EP is thematic, dealing with a different natural element (“Is Fio Glacies” is Latin for “This Becomes Ice”). The first release of the series from the self-described “Tribal Rock” act (so called for the unique mix of singer/guitarist Wes Davidson’s soulful Rock stylings and percussionist Liz Wu’s worldly rhythms) was last year’s excellent Reperio Terra (“Return to Earth”). The new release features a guest appearance from Michael Ivins, bassist for modern legends The Flaming Lips (and a part-time Northern Kentucky resident), who plays bass on the track “Sand Scribe” and is also expected to be one of the special guests joining the duo at the release show. Great local bands Green Light Morning and Zebras in Public open.
