Rape is a difficult subject to think about, much less talk about. Lokua Kanza sings about it. A prolific singer/songwriter and one of the most accomplished Congolese recording artists, Kanza is currently collaborating with the Wacongo Dance Company and Africa Yetu, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting African culture, to put together a benefit show to raise both awareness and funds for the hundreds of thousands of women and girls in conflict zones who are kidnapped, tortured, raped and sexually enslaved daily as a result of the Democratic Republic of Congo's civil war. The concert is 8 p.m. Thursday at the 20th Century Theater in Oakley. Tickets are $50 VIP (which includes dinner and meet-and-greet with Lokua Kanza), $30 general and $15 for students.
