Music: Winter Blues Fest

The Winter Blues Fest used to feature acts scattered around various Northern Kentucky clubs, but this year it will have the music all under one roof Friday and Saturday: the Southgate House. That doesn’t mean organizers are skimping on performers, though

The Cincy Blues Society, renowned across the region for its annual summertime Cincy Blues Fest, is once again giving local Blues fans a hot taste of some of Cincy’s best Blues acts this winter. The Winter Blues Fest used to feature acts scattered around various Northern Kentucky clubs, but this year it will have the music all under one roof (so you can leave your galoshes at home).

The event takes place Friday and Saturday at Newport’s Southgate House, but that doesn’t mean organizers are skimping on performers. Utilizing all three of the Southgate’s stages, the fest features nearly 30 area bands. Each night, the event kicks off at 6 p.m. with a set from some of the participants in the “Blues in the Schools” program, which encourages Blues education and exploration amongst high school musicians.

Tickets are $15 per night, though you get a $5 discount if you become a member of the Blues Society (or already are one).
