Writer-director Damián Szifrón’s Academy Award nominee (Best Foreign Language Film) Wild Tales bursts onto screens in the region this weekend with its eclectic patchwork of six short stories featuring distressed characters finding unique ways to emerge from crises. Based solely on the trailer, it would appear that there are “wild” tonal shifts — from thriller elements to comedy and drama — sometimes within the same narrative, but Szifrón apparently managed the hairpin turns with aplomb.
