The folks who created the Newport Gangster and Queen City Underground tours have a new installment that brings the city’s strategic role in the Civil War to life.
Most locals know about Cincinnati’s role as an industrial powerhouse during the war, but it’s a rare treat to hear tales of our courageous black regiments and the tens of thousands of troops stationed on the hillsides who turned back a Confederate invasion without firing a shot. The time tripping excursion winds through the streets of OTR, with stops in Memorial Hall, Old St. Mary’s Church and the Emery Theater.
Tickets are $15. Tours are 1 p.m. Saturdays through Sept. 25 beginning at 12th and Vine Sts., Over-the-Rhine. Get info at 859-951-8560.
