Museum Gallery/Gallery Museum (1218 Sycamore St., Over-the-Rhine) started off 2010 with a show that looked at the masculine identity. Artists responded to gender theory, pop cultural “norms” and personal issues in all kinds of media. Closing out its year, MG/GM presents Girls Doing Guys, an exhibition comprised of 22 women who will present their versions of the ideal man. One of this gallery’s strengths is its interest in bringing so many different perspectives into the room at once, eager to see what kind of aesthetic and conceptual collisions might result.

For this show, expect the kind of sexual objectification pioneered by Sex in the City. Artists Suzy Irwin and Loraine Wible — both are part of the collective that operates the gallery — are joined by a whole list of female artists, including Sara Blyth-Stephens and Sheida Soleimani. Along with individual artists, Northside’s campy vintage boutique Chicken Lays an Egg will also be participating in the exhibition. The opening reception is 7-11 p.m. Friday.
