Everyone knows Wednesday is the alleged "biggest bar night of the year." But what about those of us who need a stiff drink after spending the day stuffing our faces and arguing with family members over politics, sports and that goddamn Aunt Cathy who just refuses to have that paternity test done to figure out which of the five possible fathers is baby Beyonce's real dad? (She's was going to go on Maury, but she's holding out for Tyra.)

The Mad Hatter in Covington has got you covered Thursday as they present their annual "Franksgiving" celebration/benefit for a good cause. The event — which began back at the old Radio Down venue — gives turkey-weary revelers an escape and also raises funds for charity (this year's recipient: the Jeff Pfetzer Scholarship). Music will be provided by Kyle Knapp of The Turkeys and Pete Dressman and Soul Unified Union. $5 admission.

In case you were wondering about the name: The event was started by the local Frank brothers (one Mr. Tony Frank is a loyal CityBeat employee) with help from The Mad Hatter's Frank Hulefeld. Any excuse to hold a party.
