The funniest political activists you'll ever meet are Yes Men Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonanno, the subjects of the hilarious, self-titled documentary by Chris Smith, Dan Ollman and Sarah Price, the team behind American Movie. A believable imitation of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Web site earns Bichlbaum and Bonanno invitations to trade conferences to speak as a representatives of the WTO. At a textiles conference in Tampere, Finland, they unveil their best gag, their prototype for the management suit of the future, a gold jumpsuit with a 3-foot penis containing a video monitor for watching workers and the ability to transmit electronic shocks to them. What's truly funny, Bichlbaum says, is how they've never been run out of town by mobs despite the outrageousness of their pranks.
"A woman came up to me in Tampere after the presentation to criticize the suit," Bichlbaum says, laughing. "She wanted to know why it was designed with a giant penis. She said to me, 'You know, there are women managers out there.' Her problem wasn't the idea of a suit that sends electric shocks to factory workers. Her problem was that the suit was gender specific to men."
