Celebrate and commemorate those who have served our country with a weekend of activities at the Arlington Memorial Gardens in Finneytown.

Remembrances start Friday and go through the weekend with a daily moment of silence at 3 p.m., followed by the playing of “Taps,” including an observation of a national moment of remembrance at 3 p.m. Monday. A temporary Arlington Wall of Reflection will be erected through the weekend where visitors can design and post their own memorials to deceased loved ones. And on Sunday, enjoy a picnic lunch with Cincinnati-area veterans from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m., in the shelter next to the Garden of Patriotism. After lunch, at 1 p.m. on Sunday, there will be a flag raising ceremony in the garden as a tribute to those who have served and given their lives for our freedom, followed by a balloon release at 1:45 p.m.

Also throughout the weekend, Arlington Memorial Gardens will be collecting gently used cell phones for soldiers as well as non-perishable food items, all to be sent overseas.
