Following a series of shows on the road, Cincinnati-based Folk duo Gypsy and the Tree returns home for a live performance Saturday evening at The Underground (1140 Smiley Ave., Forest Park). Comprised of songwriters Kelly Miller and Noah Smith (founder of Live Love Studios in Amelia), Gypsy and the Tree exhibits hallmarks of traditional American Folk music, strumming humble, chord-driven tunes that come to life with lyrics of love and free spirits, embellished by Appalachian-style vocal harmonies that ring with a soothing sense of open-road freedom. Their songs are illuminated with tales of broken hearts and lovers out to change the world, shifting between moody choruses and verses that canter like the strides of a hitchhiker wandering down the side of an empty highway. Alongside Gypsy and the Tree, acoustic artists Marissa Rhinehart, Joe Plante and Kile Yurchak are on the bill for this evening of warm-hearted Folk anthems. Doors open at 7 p.m. $8 admission.
