Mary Ran Gallery is opening a show that brings to light an interesting Cincinnati painter of the past, A. J. Weber. After graduating from the Art Academy in 1914, Weber moved from a conservative Realism style toward Expressionism and even abstraction. He exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Brooklyn Museum and the Corcoran in Washington. He also was a leader of a local art colony of the 1920s called Valley of the Moon Society, which Ran says would gather at an old cottage on a small plot of land on a hill near what is now Lunken Airport.
