The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra invites you to ring in 2014 New Orleans-style with an evening of jazzy Big Band and Dixieland favorites with trumpeter Byron Stripling, who will be paying tribute to NOLA great Louis Armstrong with hits like “Ain’t Misbehavin’,” “Basin Street Blues” and “When the Saints Go Marching In.”

Hang around after the concert for more Big Easy partying with the CSO’s New Year’s Eve Ball. Music Hall’s ballroom will transform into a New Orleans nightclub with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, music by Leroy Ellington and his E-Funk Band, carnival-style dancing led by showgirls, a catered dinner and a champagne toast at midnight. There will also be a silent auction with items like jewelry, a Mercedes lease, shoes from Saks, a helicopter ride and more.

Concert starts at 7:30 p.m.; New Year’s Eve Ball kicks off at 10 p.m. Concert: $12-$90; Ball: $175-$250. Music Hall, 1241 Elm St., Over-the-Rhine, cincinnatisymphony.org.
