Treasure Fingers

Producer/musician/DJ/remix-specialist Ashley Jones first came to the attention of the Dance music universe under the stage name The Enemy, part of the innovative Drum ’n Bass trio Evol Intent, which released club and critical favorites on its own Evol Intent Records, as well as Dieselboy’s Human Imprint label. In the mid-’00s, Evol Intent worked with adventurous bassist/producer Bill Laswell and Jazz saxophonist Dave Liebman on a project that attempted to fuse Jazz, Experimental and Drum ’n Bass music, while the trio’s original debut full-length, Era of Diversion, was a progressive, eclectic blending of styles ranging from Punk and Metal to Post Rock, Rap and various shades of EDM.

Though not quite as broad, that sonic diversity gives good insight into the range of inspiration that feeds into Jones’ solo work under the moniker Treasure Fingers. The Oklahoma-born/Atlanta-raised New York City transplant now blends his influences into a more focused, seamless mix as Treasure Fingers, which has led to appearances at most of the big Electronic music festivals across the planet, as well as remix gigs for A-list artists like Chromeo, Little Boots, Mike Snow, Estelle, Kid Cudi and Empire of the Sun.

Picking up on the “Nu Disco” vibe of Treasure Fingers’ global club smash “Cross the Dancefloor” (a vibe felt through much of his other work, as well), the New York Post compared Jones’ sound to early Daft Punk and dubbed the track “audio Viagra.” Treasure Fingers headlines the free Beats by Self Diploma concert on Fountain Square this week; we’ll put the Post’s description to the test and check back in about nine months to see if there’s a baby boom in Greater Cincinnati.
