When Leapin Lizard in Covington closed earlier this year, the community lost a reference point for fine art, craft and fun events. What has been a two-story gallery that enlivened a former church with funky, eclectic sensibilities is back, retaining its wild streak to fuel a new function as an alternative events space. Its grand re-opening is this Saturday, celebrating “CARNIVALE: An Affair of Intrigue.” This costume party (prizes will be awarded for best costumes) will feature a great lineup of drag and burlesque shows and a slew of DJs thumping through the night. And while it will be great to see Leapin Lizard in evolution, the best part of the night is that a portion of the proceeds will benefit STOP AIDS. 8 p.m-1 a.m. Pre-sale tickets are available by calling 513-404-1366 or by email [email protected] ($20, $50 for VIP tickets). The VIP extras include a private lounge, special performances, cuisine by Jean-Robert De Cavel and open bar. $25 and $60 at the door.
