New music venue/restaurant MOTR Pub (1345 Main St., Downtown, 513-381-6687) is owned by Dan McCabe and Chris Schadler, who have booked up-and-coming bands for various local venues over the years. McCabe also produces the MidPoint Music Festival and the Cincinnati Entertainment Awards for CityBeat and plays in the band The Kiss Me Everlasting.

“I occasionally like to play out, play some music, and I wallow in it when I’m not playing it,” McCabe says.

MOTR occupies the former Cooper’s space on Main Street and serves a small but tasty dinner menu with vegetarian and vegan options Monday-Saturday and brunch on Sunday. They’re environmentally friendly, too. They recycle as much as they can, offer triple osmosis filtered water instead of bottled and compost the food waste.

CityBeat: What was your last great meal and where did you have it?
Dan McCabe
: I would have to say at Honey in Northside. I had the (Creole) meatloaf which I enjoy every time.

CB: The chefs at MOTR (Catherine Pleva and Sharon Bresser) both have a lot of food and music background, which fits right in with what MOTR is doing. Where’d you find them?
DM
: Everybody at MOTR I’ve known — (and) typically worked with — for the past 20 years. Cat, our chef here, has helped me with the CEAs in the past, and the partners, of course, I’ve been working with for 20 years. It’s a group of friends that got together to get it off the ground and keep it running.
