Onstage: Candy Makes You Smart?

Grammy-nominated, multiple-award-winning kids' singer/songwriter Zak Morgan costars with The Rope Warrior (David Fisher, a sort of jump-rope acrobat/performance artist) in 'Candy Makes You Smart?', which finds them having "zany" adventures on their quest

As CityBeat’s theater critics will tell you, if you're a fan of the theater Cincinnati is a wonderful city to live in. But what if you’re a big theater fan and still a few years away from being able to drive yourself anywhere (legally)? Well, Cincinnati’s “theater for children” scene isn’t too shabby, either. (See Rick Pender's preview of this weekend's Children's Theatre offering of Tom Sawyer here.)

A new children’s troupe/stage series, Pipsqueak Theater, presents its debut offering Sunday at the 20th Century Theatre. Kids and parents who like their entertainment homegrown will no doubt recognize the show’s star, Grammy-nominated, multiple-award-winning kids’ singer/songwriter Zak Morgan. He costars with The Rope Warrior (David Fisher, a sort of jump-rope acrobat/performance artist) in Candy Makes You Smart?, which finds Morgan and Fisher having “zany” adventures on their quest to “save the world!!!”

The show starts at 4 p.m. Sunday, and admission is $15. Candy might not really make you smart (damn you, Smarties, and your misleading name!), but anything Morgan is involved in is going to make your kids a billion times smarter than Dora ever will.
