Celebrate the Solar New Year with the Cincinnati Nature Center’s Winter Solstice Celebration. The Winter Solstice marks the first astronomical day of winter, the day the sun is farthest from the earth and the longest night of the year. Take a horse-drawn wagon ride through Rowe Woods to see nature at its most peaceful, take a self-guided scavenger hunt, participate in candle-making activities or plant Paperwhite bulbs. Celtic band Dark Moll will celebrate the night with traditional Winter Solstice sounds and West Clermont By Request will be singing holiday classics. The celebration runs from 1-5 p.m., followed by “Drumming on the Longest Night,” a drum circle in which all are welcome to participate. Admission ranges from $1-$10 (depending on your age and CNC membership status).
