Pelican Dreams

An undocumented visitor — a California pelican — gets arrested on the Golden Gate Bridge, thrown into the care of a rehab facility and, with assistance, must deal with nesting concerns, upended migration issues and other challenges that threaten its very survival. Fortunately, the pelican does so under the watchful eye of documentarian Judy Irving (The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill), who has an affinity for tales involving wild birds and their contact with humans. A word of advice — stay through the closing credits in order to catch the joke at the end about “a pelican that walks into a bar…” (Opens Friday at Esquire Theatre) — (G) Not screened in time for review
