Keanu Reeves, as Kai, heads up another rebellion, this time leading a roaming band of samurai (also known as ronin) seeking revenge against the shogun who killed and dishonored their master. The odds (47 ronin versus and army of thousands augmented by dark magic) are not in the favor of the underdogs, but apparently there’s always hope when you’ve got “The One” on your side. Writer-director Carl Rinsch (the shorts Lovely Weather for Rain and The Gift) has an interest and affinity for science fiction and fantasy, but after Wong Kar Wai’s studied mix of beauty and martial arts prowess The Grandmaster, Rinsch has a high bar to top. Now in theaters. (PG-13) Not screened in time for review
